Natural Graces Day Spa presents “Mermaid Ends” hair extensions and accessories. We offer a natural hair-adding technique referred to as ‘root plaiting’ (micro-braiding at the scalp). The most popular hair extension processes include weaving (sewing wefts of hair in layers to the back of the head), bonding (using adhesive to glue wefts), and locking (using tiny beads at the scalp and clamping each section in tiny pressed ponytails), but all have notable hair-loss risks. Our technique has been used since Egyptian times and is still one of the gentlest ways to manipulate the hair today. The plaits can hide under a minimum of 4 inches of natural hair growth from the root to achieve any longer length, wavy or straight, combed out natural-look or fully braided to the ends. We mostly work with synthetic hair because it comes in dramatic lengths and can be style-set. Human hair can be applied in favor of using hot tools, but due to our application process the longest length may end at 16” from the scalp. We also offer a variety of custom hair-pieces, falls, ponytails, and unique hair accessories available in the spa boutique. Pricing for extensions are based on texture, color, style and length. The following is a list of estimates, but please call for your personal evaluation:
760-439-4325
$100 to add fullness in one layer, 1-2 hour service
$200 for a full application of three layers, 2-4 hour service
$350 for a long braided style, 4-5 hour service
From Hair to There...
a history of hair extensions:
Hair-adornment has been seen through the ages from Egyptian times to modern day. Many cultures have a history of associating long hair with beauty and power. From Lady Godiva’s skin-hiding mane to Rapunzel’s rope-like tresses, long haired women have made many noteworthy appearances in fact and fictional tales. Hair additions were so highly used in the Victorian era that an estimated 100,000 lbs. were sold in France in the 1870’s! After some generations of women with shorter styles, the longer trend came back with extravagant falls and wigs in the “I Dream of Genie” 1960’s. The ‘70’s flaunted longer natural manes with iconic styles like “Marsha Brady”, but the ‘80’s and ‘90’s made hair-embellishing so common with celebrities that it became increasingly popular with the general public. Some familiar hair-enhanced stars include: Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Daryl Hannah, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Garner, Nicole Kidman, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Angelina Jolie, Beyonce’, Gwen Stefani, and Britney Spears.
